De Waterkant

A sub-suburb of the popular Green Point area is De Waterkant. This suburb lies between Green Point and the colourful Bo Kaap and is adjacent to the central business district on the southeastern end of Somerset Road. On the south, it is neighboured by the historically coloured district of Bo-Kaap. The suburb is an address highly sought after by young professionals and niche restaurants and retailers.

This fascinating little village is home to a range of restaurants, shops, spas, yoga studios and quaint cottages whilst still being conveniently situated close to the City Centre. The area offers both modern apartments as well as a few Cape Dutch art deco cottages, that gives this vibrant area the character so beloved by its residents and visitors alike. De Waterkant is undoubtedly very popular amongst younger buyers and this popularity has prevailed in recent years.

The boutique shopping experience is prominent in this area, as epitomised by Cape Quarter https://www.capequarter.co.za, as well as they myriad of retail options in Waterkant Street itself and surrounding areas, allowing both browsers and shoppers hours of fascination.

Prestwich Street Primary School is located within this small suburb as is the tertiary option of Vega School Cape Town https://www.vegaschool.com.   Other pre-primary, primary and high schools can be found in neighbouring suburbs closeby.  The Graduate School of Business of the University of Cape Town https://www.gsb.uct.ac.za can be found a short distance away.
