CEO Update - Spring Market

Just in time for Spring - the season of new beginnings - we are thrilled to be in Lockdown Level 1, with further relaxations to the restrictions that are now part and parcel of daily life. The move to Level 1 represents a further opportunity to reawaken our economy, especially the travel and tourism sectors. For the first time in half a year there is something to look forward to. Leisure travel is once again a reality, which means December holidays, family and social gatherings can be planned in earnest, as we prepare to flex those out-of-practice social muscles.

We have fantastic new listings in our coastal areas, which are getting a lot of interest given people's increasing ability to work from virtually anywhere provided there is good internet access.

COVID-19 has created a new lens through which people and businesses are considering their options for a different way of working. The daily commute may well be a thing of the past for many. The time that used to be spent getting to and from the office can now be used more fruitfully, with technology playing a key role in enabling this shift. It is remarkable to see how quickly and successfully we have collectively adapted to this situation.

For the first time in six months we are hosting Show Days. It feels great to be out there, showcasing our properties and meeting new clients. Although Show Days are quite different to those held pre-Covid. Our "new normal" includes masks and sanitisers, a limit of 2 people in the property at a time and requiring all visitors to acknowledge whether they have experienced any symptoms in the past 14 days. We have become so accustomed to filling in forms like this over the past months, it barely feels strange anymore. How quickly the unfamiliar becomes the norm.

Our rentals team is incredibly busy. Many people seek the flexibility that comes with being a tenant. Many organisations seek the predictability that comes with having a long-term rental in place. We need to acquire more rental properties in the upper price bracket (R80 000 - R180 000/month) to meet the increased demand. Should you be interested in discussing what options are available, please contact our Rentals Manager, Sakhile Shandu, on 063 553 1897 or rentals@hamiltons.co.za. https://www.hamiltons.co.za/results/residential/to-let/
